Christmas Traditions - Fruit Cake

December 11, 2020

Today I baked my traditional fruit cake and it always brings back lots of happy memories.  In my home, once I have baked the fruit cake, the festive season is in full gear. It’s less than two weeks now to Christmas and I am making a lot of progress with my Christmas to-do list.

This cake appeals to my sense of taste, smell and sight. The combination of the fruits soaked in brandy with the spices and browning is an acquired taste. Some people consider it to be too dense and complicated but try thinking of it as having the best bits in a slice - fruits, nuts, spices, butter, sugar etc. Fortunately, it can easily be preserved thanks to the brandy so I will enjoy every bite at my own pace as I’m the only person crazy about fruit cake in my house.

It's okay to buy from a store or order but it's best to bake it at home. This way you can get the family or friemds involved, smell the spices like cinnamon and cloves and best of all, you can customize it the way you want it
