My Avocado Adventure

May 14, 2018

Avocado is one of the highly recommended fruits in the world. It is rich in healthy fat with ha a fantastic flavour and texture. It ia also recommended for a keto diet as it has very little carbohydrate and rich in monosaturated fats and potassium. I have never been an avocado fan even though it is looks appetizing, I thought it just tasted bland. Recently I have added it to my diet but just found many ways to eat it. As a child, I remember my mother sprinkled a little bit of salt on it before eating avocado, I have tried that out and I guess it works well.

Now I am liking avocado and here are some ways I eat this superfood. I eat it as a snack or as a meal or evento compliment other dishes. It can be eaten with groundnuts, bacon, bell peppers, chicken, black pepper, cheese and the list can go on. So if you happen to be like me who just has to start eating avocado for health reasons then try to add colour and more excitement to it like adding it to your salad.

I am struggling with knowing which avocado is just right when in the shops. How will I choose which avocado is good and which one has not gone bad? I was adviced to check for the one that is brownish green and not hard or too mushy. I guess it also depends on the specie of the avocado because there are some avocados that are green but still ready to eat.

If it is not ripe (looks green), store in a brown paper to help it ripen. Another thing I have learnt is that if you eat half of the avocado, you can the store the rest in the fridge but sprinkle lemon juice on it to prevent browning and then wrap cling film around it.
